Regional Government promotes online training for musicians from North American philharmonic bands
Members of the philharmonic bands of the Azorean communities in the United States and Canada will have the opportunity to participate in the Online Training for Musicians from North American Philharmonic Bands. This initiative is organised by the Regional Secretariat for Parliamentary Affairs and Communities, through the Regional Directorate for the Communities.
Scheduled for October 19, starting at 5 pm in the Azores (1 pm on the East Coast and 10 am on the West Coast of North America) and lasting 120 minutes, this training session is intended to be a space for sharing and overcoming the need to update knowledge on this subject.
The panel of trainers will be made up of conductors Antero Ávila and Marco Torre. The opening session will be chaired by the Regional Director for the Communities, José Andrade, who will present a brief historical overview of philharmonic bands of the Azores and the communities. The programme also includes a moment of interaction with questions and answers between trainees and the tutors.
The training requires prior registration due to the limited number of participants. Those interested can register by filling in the forms available at https://shre.ink/gEtT until October 15.
Philharmonic bands play an important role in promoting the values and traditions of the nine islands of the Azores.
Aware of the important contribution of these institutions to the daily cultural and social life of the communities of Azorean emigrants and descendants in North America, the Regional Government is increasingly committed to organising this type of initiative. These seek to preserve the legacy and cultural values of the Region outside the archipelago, in addition to promoting a permanent rapprochement and exchange between the Azores and their communities.
