The Vice-Presidency of the Regional Government of the Azores promotes, starting next Monday, September 27th, a new cycle of the initiative “Conversations of the Diaspora”, this time dedicated to the media that serve the communities of Azorean emigrants and their descendants in the United States of America and Canada.
The first two season of this initiative have approached and introduced the Houses of Azores throughout the world and the 19 councilors that integrate the Azorean Diaspora Council, an advisory organ of the Government of the Azores. Now, the Conversations of the Diaspora will present the media of the Azorean communities, by approaching their challenges and the important role they have in North America.
This new cycle will start on September 27th, with the first session that joins the media Portuguese Times, O Jornal, the Radio Voz do Emigrante and the Radio WJFD, all from the State of Massachusetts.
On the following week, October 4th, the Radio CIRV, the Correio da Manhã Canadá TV, the newspaper Sol Português and the TV show Gente da Nossa TV, from the city of Toronto, will be the guests for the second session.
From the Canadian province of Ontario, the Conversations of the Diaspora travels to the American state of California, on October 11th, to get to know the newapaper The Portuguese Tribune, the program Portuguese BeyondBorders Institute from radio KGST, the radio sations Lusalândia and Portugal USA, from the group Diaspora Media Group, Inc, and the radio stations KSQQ, KLBS and KQLB.
The forth session, scheduled for October 18th, will host as guests the newspaper Lusopresse and LusaQ TV, the newspaper O Açoriano, the weakly newspaper A Voz de Portugal and Radio Centre-Ville, from the province of Québec, in Canada.
The last session will gather, on October 25th, the magazine A Praça (from Rhode Island, USA), the Luso-Americano Newspaper (from New Jersey, USA), the radio program Portuguese in Manitoba, from Radio CKJS (from Manitoba, Canada) and the radio stations BC and CHMB (from British Columbia, Canada).
The Conversations of the Diaspora are an initiative of the Vice-Presidency of the Regional Government of the Azores that will take place weekly on Mondays, at 6:30pm Azorean time, through livestreaming on the official webpage of the Regional Directorate for the Communities on the social media Facebook.
These sessions with the directors of the media sector of the Azorean communities in North America will be conducted by the Regional Director for the Communities, José Andrade.
