Nicole Vieira, a student at Antero de Quental Secondary School, was the winner of the \u201cIntercultural Poetry\u201d literary competition, promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Parliamentary Affairs and Communities, through the Regional Directorate for Communities.<\/p>\n
The poem \u201cThe beauty of the world\u201d, by the young student from the island of S\u00e3o Miguel, was chosen by the jury made up of Margarida Ramalho, \u00c1lamo Oliveira and Eleonora Duarte, from among the 12 texts submitted to the competition.<\/p>\n
Nicole Vieira will receive a plane ticket for two people, between her island of residence and any other in the Azores, a prize that will be awarded at the Macaronesian Poetry and Music Gala, promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Parliamentary Affairs and Communities, through the Regional Directorate for Communities, at the end of the VII International Poetry Meeting of Macaronesia, which will take place on November 9, at 9.30pm, in the Auditorium of the Public Library and Regional Archive of Ponta Delgada.<\/p>\n
In turn, the Antero de Quental Secondary School will receive a selected set of books for its library.<\/p>\n
The literary competition, \u201cIntercultural Poetry\u201d, was presented on March 21, 2024, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and World Poetry Day, and aimed to promote interaction and dialogue, in a school context, between different cultures through poetic expression, valuing the written production of students from the Azores, in the genre of poetry, on themes such as multiculturalism, interculturalism and cultural diversity.<\/p>\n
Beauty in the world<\/p>\n
From my bedroom window<\/p>\n
I see the world around me<\/p>\n
I see the rain, I feel the wind<\/p>\n
And I also feel the heat<\/p>\n
In another place, far away,<\/p>\n
Someone else feels it too,<\/p>\n

Skins of different colors,<\/p>\n
And more languages<\/p>\n
Than water in the sea.<\/p>\n
In a world of people who deserve to be loved,<\/p>\n
And who also want to love<\/p>\n
All of us with differences<\/p>\n
That make us unique.<\/p>\n
Various ideas, various beliefs<\/p>\n
That make us as beautiful as the world.<\/p>\n
But despite everything<\/p>\n
we are all the same.<\/p>\n
We all see from our windows<\/p>\n
