The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Bolieiro, had a meeting, Thursday evening, with entrepreneurs and associative leaders from the migrant community and Azorean and Portuguese descendants from Boston and\u00a0surrounding areas, where he stated that the Azores of today are a \u201cland of opportunities\u201d due to the new economies, such as green, blue and space economies.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur geography, that has been reason for our constraints, is now an opportunity of centrality of the planet. The new economies, green, blue, space and ocean, have transformed the Azores into a land of opportunities\u201d, emphasized the President of the Government speaking to dozens of people present at the meeting at the Sport Club Faialense.<\/p>\n
Jos\u00e9 Manuel Bolieiro then pointed out the Azorean tax charge, the lowest in Portugal, and he highlighted the work already initiated for the creation of a support platform to the investor from the diaspora, that will simplify the access to information for those who intend to invest in the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Azores have improved a lot since you left to the land of dream and opportunities\u201d, he underlined, addressing the businessmen and entrepreneurs present.<\/p>\n
In any way, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Bolieiro invited all to visit the Azores as tourists, being the Government\u2019s plan to preserve \u201cthe goose that lays golden eggs\u201d of the region, its environment\u2019s quality and its nature.<\/p>\n
Jos\u00e9 Manuel Bolieiro is the guest of honour of this year\u2019s Great Feast of the Holy Ghost of New England, where he will participate at the event\u2019s opening this afternoon, at Kennedy Park, in the city of Fall River.<\/p>\n
Before that, the Azorean committee proceeds to the University of Massachusetts \u2013 Lowell: Jos\u00e9 Manuel Bolieiro accompanied by the Regional Directors for the Communities and for External Cooperation counts with the presence of the Rector of the University of the Azores, Susana Mira Leal, and the President of the General Council of the University of the Azores, Elias Pereira.<\/p>\n
The purpose to bring the representatives of the University of the Azores to the United States, says the President, is to seek a \u201clarger institutional proximity\u201d with this North-American academy, namely in what concerns investigation or the exchange of teachers and students.<\/p>\n
These working days in the United States will also include, besides the attendance to the Festivities, the presentation of the Bellis Az\u00f3rica publishing project, for the US edition of emblematic works of the Azorean literature, and a visit to the exhibition dedicated to the painter Domingos Rebelo in New Bedford.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
