The Presidency of the Regional Government of the Azores promoted the first Azores Consular Meeting, an \u201chistoric\u201d moment that \u201cwill help to improve\u201d the \u201cpartnership relationship\u201d between the Autonomous Region of the Azores and the different countries represented in the Azores.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is \u00a0relevant that the Government \u00a0may be a real partner of friendly welcome and clarification, not only in the perspective of receiving, but also in the promotion of the Azores in these countries represented by the consular network\u201d, the President of the Government, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Bolieiro, considered.<\/p>\n

Yesterday morning, the President chaired \u00a0the Azores Consular Meeting at Pal\u00e1cio da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o, in Ponta Delgada, at the end of which he expressed his satisfaction with the set of contributions that \u201cwill help to improve the partnership\u201d between those involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have provided the possibility of Integrated Citizen Support Network (RIAC<\/em>) to become partner in the needs the honorary consuls could have in the nine islands of the Azores\u201d, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Bolieiro stressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese responsibles\u2018 liaison with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE<\/em>) and the Ministry of the Internal Administration (MAI<\/em>) may also have the support of the Regional Government of the Azores\u201d, the President has also advanced.<\/p>\n

The meeting gathered representatives of the accredited consular corps in the Region for an exchange of views on the current situation and the future perspectives from the foreign communities residing on the nine Azores\u2019 islands.<\/p>\n

According to Foreigners and Borders Service\u2019s data, 4.480 foreign citizens from 95 different nationalities were living in the Azores in 2021, 25 of which\u00a0have consular representation in the Region.<\/p>\n

The consular corps in the Azores is presently composed of the new United States of America consul, Margaret C. Campbell, the only career consul, and of 24 honorary consuls.<\/p>\n
